Amex Advance is a new data driven business that partners with companies across the advertising, travel and service industries to deliver curated personalization services optimized for their customers.
American Express has a long heritage of using insights from its data to help merchants grow their businesses and providing value to Card Members.
Now we are extending this service beyond our network, Amex Advance and its partners will use these insights to deliver advertising to more narrowly targeted audience segments and personalized recommendations.
Harnessing our deterministic data insights and predictive machine learning, Amex Advance delivers outstanding solutions and services to solve your key business challenges.
Curated Audiences: Collection of premium turnkey segments. Choose from Audiences across Persona & Interests, Events & Purchases, and Life Stages.
Data Driven Offer’s Audience: Launch targeted offers in the American Express Offers platform to drive incremental revenue and advertising to American Express Card Members.
Consultative Audiences: Bespoke audience segments created by collocating Partner and Amex data to address your business challenges.
Precise Data Insights: Insights are based upon the analysis of the vast majority of the $1 trillion in annual purchases on the American Express network.
Connected Platform: Platform allows for the secure analysis of our data alongside partner data resulting in greater performance.

Amex Advance harnesses the latest machine learning techniques to help predict when a consumer might be in the market for a certain product.
Amex Advance analyzes the vast majority of the $1 trillion in annual transactions on the American Express closed-loop network, which have been aggregated and anonymized, to develop predictive insights about the future buying behaviors of a desired consumer audience.
From these models, Amex Advance and its clients will create advanced audience segments with the highest intent to purchase.
All data, including American Express and partner data, is anonymized and encrypted in the secure, Amex Advance platform.
To further preserve the privacy of its Card Members and partners’ customers, the platform is hosted by an independent third-party, Acxiom, so the data can be analyzed in a segmented environment.
All Card Member data is anonymized prior to being used to develop the insights that drive our audiences, so personal details are always protected.
We do not share any personal information of our Card Members with our business partners in this process. No names or contact information of any kind, including whether or not a consumer is an American Express Card Member, is ever accessible to our partners.

Even though Card Member information is anonymized and aggregated as part of this partnership, we offer a choice to opt-out if Card Members do not want their information included in the process at all.
If a Card Member would like Amex Advance to stop using their anonymized information, they can simply opt-out by:
Logging into their American Express Account, going to “Account Services” and clicking on the “Alerts, Communication & Privacy Preferences” tab, clicking on the "Privacy Preferences" link, and un-checking the box next to: DATA USAGE CHOICE FOR BUSINESS PARTNERS’ TARGET ADVERTISING.
A Card Member's opt-out will be effective for five (5) years, at which time American Express will notify them to renew their choice. We recognize people's attitudes towards targeted advertising continue to shift, since the advertising industry itself is evolving rapidly as a result of digital technology. Therefore, Card Members can re-visit their American Express Acocunt to update their privacy choices with us accordingly.
