Why is it necessary ?

This law applies to all financial institutions and this verification conditions the continuation of their commercial relations with their customers. 

 

American Express is required to update its customers’ information regularly and make sure that the collected information is complete, accurate and up-to-date. Under Article R 561-12 of the French Monetary and Financial Code, like all financial institutions, we have regulatory obligations to ask you for information about your identity (and your residential address)

NECESSARY AND IMPORTANT

 

 

 

You are legally required to provide us with all information necessary to fulfil our “know-your-customer” obligations. This regulation applies to all financial institutions and is intended to protect the French financial system against threats of money laundering and terrorist financing by ensuring that financial institutions implement effective measures. If you fail to provide your personal data and information, your card may be suspended.

Updating your customer details

We have developed a dedicated portal to allow you to easily and securely send the necessary information and documents to us from your computer, tablet or smartphone.

 

Before logging in :

To save time, have the following ready :


- your American Express Card (if you have more than one card, be sure to enter the Card number referenced in the letter/email received from American Express).

- the customer reference indicated on the communication you received. You will be asked for it later.


Prepare the required supporting documents:
 

A legible colour copy of one of the following valid identity documents:

• copy of your passport (pages including photo and signature)

• front and back copy of your national ID card

• front and back copy of a residence permit in France valid for more than 1 year

 

Save them on your computer or on your tablet/mobile device. You can upload documents up to a maximum size of 10 MB.

The accepted formats are:

 

• JPEG or PNG for the copy of the identity document

Good to know !

 

For the national ID card and residence permit, you must upload them in two steps: first the front, then the back.


Once logged in to our portal :

Enter your Card number and customer reference

- Submit your previously scanned supporting documents

- Fill in the requested fields

- Click “Submit” when your request is complete.

 

Your information and documents will be sent to us. Once they are submitted, you will no longer have access to them

 

Note :

 

- You will not be able to save a draft. You will need to submit the request to update your details in a single session.

- Some fields are filled in by optical recognition. Please check that the information entered is correct and complete and amend it if necessary.

- Fields marked with * are required.

- After your document has been read, the attachment could be rejected. In that case, make sure that it is the correct document. It must be legible, of good quality and in the required format. Some documents may require additional analysis, and we may need to contact you again.
 

If your card is suspended :

If we do not receive a response from you, we will be unable to update your information and will be forced to suspend your American Express card(s). You can easily unsuspend your card(s) by connecting to our secure portal as per the above instructions to provide the required information and documentation.

 

Important :

 

- Please refer to the communications you have received from American Express to find the reference number that is necessary to connect to our secure portal.

- Once we have received your information and documentation on our secure portal, your card(s) will be quickly reactivated.
