Frequently Asked Questions
Under Article R 561-12 of the French Monetary and Financial Code, like all financial institutions, American Express has regulatory obligations to periodically contact its customers and Cardmembers to (1) regularly update their information and (2) make sure that the information collected is complete and accurate. This is a legal obligation.
In addition to the email, we send you a letter to confirm that this email communication is legitimate and sent by American Express (and not a phishing attempt).
To be sure that you receive all of our communications, remember to update your email address and telephone number in your personal Online Account.

If we do not receive a response from you, we will be unable to update your information and will be forced to take measures that may include the suspension or cancellation of your account (including additional Cards for Business Cards). These are legal obligations.
Updating your information is quick and easy. To save time, before logging in to our secure website, prepare:
- Your American Express Card number (if you have more than one Card, be sure to enter the Card number specified in the letter/email received from American Express)
- Your customer reference number (beginning with CL) specified in the letter/email from American Express.
- A legible colour copy of a valid identity document*
Once you have these items, simply upload the required documentation, complete a few fields about your identity (some of the fields will already be filled in thanks to the optical reading of the identity document that you must upload) and enter your home address.
* Refer to the list of accepted supporting documents provided on this website. If you are using a smartphone, you will be able to take a photo of your documents. They will be saved automatically. If you are using your personal computer, remember to scan your documents in advance (one file for the front and one for the back). Accepted formats are JPEG or PNG.
Yes, it is a secure link allowing you to update your details with complete confidence.

As a reminder, the permitted formats are:

Note:
- You will not be able to save a draft. You will need to update your details in a single session.
- Some fields are filled in by optical recognition. Check that the information is accurate, confirm it and correct it if necessary.
Complete the fields not filled in automatically.
Please provide us with all the required information about your Card Account (and, for Business Cards, about any additional Cards) as soon as possible. Preferably no later than 10 days after receiving our request. This will prevent any risk of your Card Account being suspended.
For more details, please refer to the communication that you received.
American Express is required to regularly review the information it has for all of its customers, whether individuals or businesses, primary Cardholders, and additional Cardholders. This applies to all types of Cards.
You can either contact Customer Service on the number on the back of your Card or send a copy of your valid ID to:
American Express Carte France
8 -10 Rue Henri Sainte Claire Deville
CS 60182
92500 Rueil Malmaison
indicating the reason for your request and the last
10 digits of your card number.
Under Article R 561-12 of the French Monetary and Financial Code, like all financial institutions, American Express is required to regularly update its customers’ information. We will therefore ask you to update your information periodically, in particular if we believe that the information we hold about you is out of date.
If you hold a Business/Corporate Card and a Personal Card, we may ask you for your personal information for each of your Cards. The information requested differs depending on the type of Card. In addition, we are only required to update the information in our systems for each of your Cards if it is too old.
Thank you. If you have completed your information shortly before we sent the reminder, it may take a few days to process the information and documents you have sent us. Therefore, thank you for your response and please disregard the reminder.
To have your card unsuspended, please connect to our secure portal to provide us with the required information and documents. Any question ? A dedicated team is available to help you on 01 72 95 00 14 (American Express-Bluelink service), Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
