About the Amex Stadium™
The world-class American Express Stadium™ is a football ground in Brighton, South East England, home to Premier League team Brighton & Hove Albion.
It’s a versatile space that represents the heart of the community, bringing football fans together, as well as playing host to other sporting and corporate events and charity fundraisers for the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation.
The Amex Stadium™, Brighton opened in 2011 to replace Albion’s previous temporary home, Withdean Stadium, having moved from the Goldstone some years before. It started with 22,500 seats, but has since grown to be the second-largest stadium in the South East, with a capacity of 31,876. After Albion’s promotion in 2017, it now stages Premier League football.
There have been a number of key milestones for the stadium and the club:
- Inaugural match: In July 2011, Brighton & Hove Albion played their inaugural match against Tottenham Hotspur.
- Best new venue: The Amex won an award for Best New Venue in 2012, beating off competition from seven other stadiums from around the world.
- Expansion: In response to high demand for tickets, the stadium was extended to increase seating capacity in 2013.
- Premier League Club: At the end of the 2016-17 season, Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club were promoted to the Premier League – the top tier of the English football league.
- Women’s Super League: Brighton & Hove Albion Women's Football Club has been part of the top tier Super League since the 2018-19 season.
- Record attendance: In October 2023, during the Premier League match against Liverpool, the stadium recorded its highest attendance of 31,752.
- Hosting international competitions: The Amex was the location for three matches at the UEFA Women’s Euros in 2022. It hosted two matches at the men's Rugby World Cup in 2015 and will host games at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup including a match featuring hosts England.
- Playing in Europe: In the 2023-24 season, Brighton & Hove Albion played in the Europa League for the first time, reaching the Round of 16 stage.
Fans from all around the UK and beyond visit the stadium to see matches and support Brighton & Hove Albion during the Premier League season.
Premier League
The Premier League is one of the most prestigious and popular football leagues in the world, showcasing the best British clubs. Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are some of the top teams that have contributed to the league’s worldwide history and success.
There are currently 19 men’s matches scheduled at the Amex Stadium in the upcoming Premier League season (from August 2024 to May 2025), with the club’s last home game on 18 May against Liverpool and the final match of their season on Sunday 25 May at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
In the Super League, Albion Women are playing 11 matches this season (from September 2024 to May 2025) at their home ground in Crawley.

How to get to the Amex Stadium™
You’ve got plenty of options to access the Amex Stadium™ as it’s well-connected to Brighton and nearby areas via public transport. On matchdays, there are several buses to the Amex Stadium™, while you could also get the train to Falmer Station which is right beside the ground.
If you’re driving, there are many parking options available.

Parking areas
The club has two park and ride sites around the city: Mill Road and Brighton Racecourse – which are both served by at least one wheelchair-accessible bus.

Defibrillators are available around the stadium, while the Amex Stadium™ security staff is trained in first aid.
