For Current American Express® Gold Card Members
Starting on June 6, 2019, Card Members who have the Gold Card will receive 4X Membership Rewards points at restaurants worldwide. Boxed.com, an online wholesale retailer that delivers bulk household items, has also been added to the $120 dining credit. These new benefits are in addition to the other benefits that currently come with the Gold Card Membership. For complete details, visit: here
Gold Card Members can earn up to $10 in monthly statement credits after they pay with the Gold Card at participating partners. This is an annual savings of up to $120. To receive this benefit, Gold Card Members must enroll either online via their benefits dashboard page or by calling the number on the back of their Card.
Gold Card Members will receive 4X Membership Rewards points while dining at restaurants worldwide. For complete details, visit: here.
Gold Card Members will receive 4X Membership Rewards points (on up to $25,000 per year in Supermarket purchases, then 1X) while shopping at U.S. Supermarkets. For complete details, visit: here.
In October 2019, the 2X on U.S. Gas Stations will be removed from the Gold Card for all current Gold Card Members who were approved before October 4, 2018. All other existing benefits will remain on the Gold Card, such as: up to $100 Airline Fee Credit for incidental fees like baggage on your selected airline each year, access to The Hotel Collection, no foreign transaction fees, Personalized Travel Service, and membership to The Travel Collection by Travel Leader’s Group.
Starting October 4, 2018, all Gold Card Accounts will receive the new benefits. We have several product options for Card Members to select from, if the Gold Card no longer fits their needs. Please call the number on the back of your Card if you desire a different American Express Card product, and we will be happy to help you find a Card that best meets your needs.
You must enroll in the dining credit in order to be eligible for the $10 monthly statement credit when you dine at one of our participating partners.

What is Shake Shack?

What is Grubhub/Seamless?
Grubhub/Seamless is an online and mobile food ordering service that allows users to order food for delivery and takeout from local restaurants. The Grubhub and Seamless apps are available for iOS and Android. They can be downloaded through the Apple or Google Play stores. Grubhub currently operates in over 1,500 cities throughout the United States. Seamless serves the New York area. Grubhub/Seamless offers more than 105,000 takeout and delivery options throughout the United States.
How does it work?
Create an account through their website or app and browse their selection of restaurants available to you. Once you have chosen the restaurant you want to order from, make your selections from the available menu, then simply proceed to checkout, provide any relevant information (such as address or payment details), and place your order.
What is Boxed?
- Boxed is an online wholesale retailer that delivers bulk household items straight to your door.
- Create an account through their website or app and browse their wide selection of items. Once you have selected the items you want to purchase, simply proceed to checkout, provide any relevant information (such as address or payment details), and place your order.
- Boxed ships to anywhere within the contiguous United States. They do not ship to PO boxes, APO, FPO, or DPO addresses.
New Metal Card
Current Gold Card Members can request the new metal Card beginning on October 4th, 2018 by going online or by calling the number on the back of their Card. Alternatively, if a Card Member does not proactively request the new metal Card, he or she will receive a metal Gold Card upon his or her renewal date.
The limited-edition Rose Gold metal Card is only available June 6th, 2019 – July 17th, 2019. Current Gold Card Members can request the limited-edition Rose Gold metal Card by logging into their account and clicking on the, “Chat” feature in the bottom right hand corner. Alternatively, a Card Member can call the number on the back of his or her Card for assistance.
Yes, when you request a metal Card, your Additional Card Members will also receive a card with the new metal design. Please note that whichever card the Primary Card Member requests will be the same version that all Additional Card Members will receive. For example, if a Card Member replaces his or her current Card with a metal Rose Gold Card, the Additional Gold Card Members will also receive metal Rose Gold Cards.
The only difference is the color of the Card. Both versions have the same annual fee, benefits, and services.
Yes, Gold Card Members can continue to use their current Card.
Yes, if you requested a Rose Gold Card during the limited-time offer period, you can get a replacement if your Card is lost or stolen after the limited-time offer period.
The color of your Additional Card depends on the color that the Primary Card Member has, so if you have Rose Gold, then your Additional Card(s) will have Rose Gold – regardless of the limited-time offer window.
Annual Fee
The annual fee for the Gold Card will be $250. If you are a current Gold Card Member, your new annual fee will be effective on your anniversary date, on or after April 1, 2019. You will be notified in 2019 regarding your personal renewal date.
The annual membership fee allows us to deliver and maintain the level of award-winning customer service our Card Members have come to expect from us. This increase will allow us to add all of the enhancements to your Card, such as the 4X points at restaurants worldwide, 4X points at U.S. Supermarkets, and up to $120 annual dining credit. The annual fee also ensures we can continue providing you with valuable protections and travel benefits like the airline fee credit, 3X points on airfare, no foreign transaction fees, and more.
Gold Card Members can continue to add 5 Additional Gold Cards on their account for no additional annual fee. Each Additional Gold Card after the first five is $35.
Additional Questions
We’re changing the name to simplify and emphasize that it’s our primary Gold Card product for consumers, as well as better differentiate this Card from the other American Express Gold Card products.
There will be no change for Additional Gold Cards. If you replace your current Card with a metal Gold Card, then your Additional Gold Cards will also be replaced with the Gold metal Cards. If you replace your Card with the limited-edition Rose Gold metal Card, then your Additional Gold Cards will also be the limited-edition Rose Gold metal Card.

Green Card members are eligible to upgrade to The Gold Card. Call the number on the back of your Card if you are interested in upgrading to The Gold Card.
Platinum Card members are eligible to transfer to The Gold Card. Call the number on the back of your Card if you are interested in changing to The Gold Card.
Yes, you can add up to 5 Additional Card Members to your account for no additional annual fee. Additional Gold Card Members on your Gold Card Account will incur a $35 annual fee after the first 5 Additional Cards. Your Additional Cards will be the same color as the Account Owner’s Card.
Annual Fee
If you apply today, your annual fee will be $250.
Payment Flexibility
With Payment Flexibility, Card Members can carry a balance with interest on eligible purchases of $100 or more, giving them more control over the amount to pay. When payment is due, Card Members can choose to pay their full balance, the minimum due, or any amount in between.
Existing Travel Benefits
Gold Card Members can earn up to $100 in annual statement credits when they pay with The Gold Card at participating airlines. To receive the benefit, Gold Card Members must enroll by selecting their airline of choice either online via their benefits dashboard page or by calling the number on the back of their Card. Credits can be used for incidental fee purchases such as checking a bag or an in-flight meal.
Gold Card Members can book hotel reservations through The Hotel Collection with American Express Travel. Gold Card Members who stay at participating properties for at least two consecutive nights will receive $100 hotel credit and a complimentary room upgrade, when available here
Gold Card Members can get access to a team of travel professionals who are ready to help with your travel needs, including booking worldwide destinations, reserving hotel rooms and transportation, and planning cruise and tour packages. Call the number on that back of your card to get started.
Gold Card Members can enjoy membership in The Travel Collection by Travel Leaders Group at no additional cost. To receive the benefit, Gold Card Members can call (877-485-8053) to enroll in the membership. The Travel Collection specialists can help Card Members access discounts and amenities when booking eligible flights, hotels, car rentals, and tours.
