Since 2011, we have invested in over 70 start-ups focused on commerce, payments, fraud prevention, data analytics and security. Today, two-thirds of our portfolio companies have commercial partnerships with American Express business units.

Consumer Services
We look for companies that will help accelerate American Express's digital transformation, strengthen connection to our global network of Card Members, and develop new ways to drive contextual relevance for commerce on new and existing platforms. Areas of interest include mobile, consumer payments, marketplaces, lending, loyalty and lifestyle services.
B2B Services
We seek companies that offer new tools and technology that empower large, mid-size and small businesses to grow and better manage their operations. Areas of interest include business payments and lending platforms, small business services, payment processing technologies, and supply chain analytics.
Enterprise Capabilities
We also explore companies that are using emerging technologies and sources of data to improve the underlying fundamentals of our business. Areas of interest include digital transformation, AI and automation, servicing and customer experience, identity, risk management, data, cybersecurity and fraud
detection.
