How to use Pay with Points
At American Express Travel Online, you can earn and use your Membership Rewards® Points
to pay or part pay for your next trip. Points can be redeemed on eligible flights, pre-paid hotels,
car rentals, packages and activities.
Just follow these easy steps
Step 1: Login
Log in to your American Express Account. If you have an eligible Card you will see the points balance in the top right corner of the page.
Step 2: Search
Begin your travel search through the American Express Travel Online site.
Your available payment options will be displayed in the results.
Step 3: Apply Points
At checkout, fill in your Traveller Information and use the slider to choose how many points you would like to apply to your booking.
Step 4: Book Trip
Membership Rewards points will then be deducted from your Membership Rewards balance at the time of booking.

When you use Pay with Points, points will be deducted from the Membership Rewards balance at the time of booking.
If you cancel your refundable booking, Points will be returned as a credit to your Card Statement.
To use Pay with Points for an online travel booking, you must use a Membership Rewards Program enrolled card for payment and redeem at least 1,000 Points per transaction.
Membership Rewards points can be used on flights (including the International Airline Program), pre-paid hotels (including Fine Hotels + Resorts & The Hotel Collection), car rentals & activities.

Generally, you can book a flight up to three business days before you travel, but to ensure greater availability, it’s best to book as early as possible.
If the Cardmember has selected to pre-pay their Fine Hotels + Resorts and/or The Hotel Collection booking, the option to pay with Membership Rewards® points will be available on the check-out page. If the Cardmember selects to pay at the hotel, they will not be able to redeem their Membership Rewards or earn additional points.
Any bonus points will normally be added to your Account within five working days of a transaction, but it could take up to 10 weeks.

Membership Rewards®
Cardmembers enrolled in the American Express Membership Rewards ® programme will earn one additional bonus Membership Rewards point in addition to their standard earn rate (for a total of 2 points) for every full £1 spent on flights, prepaid hotels, car hire and experiences booked through the American Express Travel website americanexpress.co.uk/travel. Specific Card products or limited time promotions may offer additional Membership Rewards points, please see individual Card or promotion Terms and Conditions for more information. Additional Membership Rewards points cannot be earned on products which are not prepaid but are paid directly to the supplier, including cruise bookings and select hotel bookings. These bookings will not earn two Membership Rewards points for every £1 spent but will be earned at the normal rate of one point for every £1 spent. To use Pay with Points, you must book your eligible purchase through American Express Travel and charge to a Membership Rewards program-enrolled American Express® Card. Eligible purchases through American Express Travel exclude non-prepaid car rentals and non-prepaid hotels. Points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account, and credit for corresponding amount will be issued to the American Express Card account used. If points redeemed do not cover entire amount, the balance of purchase price will remain on the American Express Card account. When paying with a combination of your American Express Card and Membership Rewards points, only the value applied to the Card is eligible to earn Membership Rewards points.
