Contactless is the easy way to pay for anything up to THB 1,500* with your American Express® Card.
Simply hold your Card close to the reader, wait for the confirmation and you're done.
Plus, you're covered by the same fraud protection, best-in-class service and Card member rewards.
You can make contactless payments at Point of Sale Terminals which are set up to accept American Express contactless.
Some shops are now accepting contactless as we continue to work with merchants to enable American Express contactless payments,
please check with the shop assistant if you can tap and go. If not, you can still use Chip when checking out.

Contactless works through short-range wireless technology. The merchant terminal picks up a signal from your Card when it's very close to it.
To check if your Card has contactless technology, look for the contactless symbol on its back or front. If you Card is not currently enabled with contactless, you may be able to request a new one. The Card products which now have contactless technology are all Cards issued in Thailand. Please contact us for more information on how to request a replacement.
More retailers are now accepting contactless Card payments of up to THB 1,500* for in-store payments. For purchases above this limit, you can still use Chip.

Yes, it’s very secure. Contactless payments use the same secuity as Chip, using dynamic and unique encryption keys which protect effectively against counterfeiting for all Card payments. If a fraudster tries to read your Card, without personal information such as your full name and security code, they won’t be able to use it for payments. And all payments are sent to American Express for validation, which means they go through the same intelligent fraud algorithms and security checks as a Chip transaction.
You can use your contactless Card abroad in most places provided they're displaying the contactless and American Express logos. The transaction limit for American Express contactless payments varies in each country.
We don't recommend tapping your wallet or purse on the reader if you have more than one contactless Card in it. Take out your chosen Card and hold it close to the terminal instead.
Not all merchants accept contactless. Check that the Card reader is enabled for American Express contactless payments by looking for the contactless symbol. If it is but your Card isn't working, please contact customer service at the number on the back of your Card to request a new one.
Yes, your contactless purchases are eligible for rewards like any other transaction.
All payments, including contactless payments, can take up to 48 hours to be processed and appear on
your statement.
Contactless payments are designed to let you make inexpensive purchases quickly and conveniently, so you won't always be offered a receipt. Although, most staff members will be happy to give you one if you ask.
