This great travel benefit means when you book and pay for your return trip with your American Express Gold Credit Card, you can take advantage of domestic and overseas travel insurance for you, your partner and your children under the age of 236.
Your complimentary Travel Insurance gives you:
- Overseas Medical Emergency Expenses Cover (including Repatriation) up to $2,500,000;
- Travel Cancellation Cover up to $30,000;

Claims related to pre-existing medical conditions are excluded;

As an American Express Gold Credit Card Member enrolled into the Membership Rewards programme, you'll earn 1 Membership Rewards point per $1 spent on all purchases.
What’s more, if you’re enrolled in our TurboTM programme, you’ll earn 2 points for every $1 spent on your Card.
The best thing is, there's no expiry or cap to the number of Membership Rewards points you can earn, as long as your account is current and in good standing. When you consider the points earning potential, it makes a lot of sense to use your American Express® Card every time you spend.1
An Additional Card can be linked to your Card Account, to be used by family or a friend. It’s a great way to earn more Membership Rewards points, as points earned on transactions are credited to the primary Card Member’s account.2

1. Enrolment and participation in Membership Rewards is subject to the Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions available on membershiprewards.co.nz and partner Terms and Conditions. Only purchases are eligible for Membership Rewards Points. You will earn 1 Membership Rewards Point for every dollar you spend in New Zealand. Membership Rewards Points do not expire while your account remains current and in good standing. A fee may be applicable for participation in partner airline programmes. A transfer fee of $35 per transfer of points to one of our airline partner programmes will apply.
2 Supplementary Card Members must be 18 years of age or older. The primary Card Member will be liable for all spending on Supplementary Cards.
3. Points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account and a credit placed on your Card in line with the points chosen to be used for the Eligible Charge. A minimum of 1,000 Membership Rewards points is required for any Use Points for Your Charges transaction. Any credit to your Card Account cannot exceed the amount of the relevant Eligible Charges. A credit will appear on your statement identified as “Membership Rewards Credit”. Points will be debited immediately and the credit will take up to 72 hours to appear online. Credits processed after the Card Account’s statement closing date will appear in the following statement. You are still responsible for payment of the amount due on your Card Account by the due date. Use Points for Charges is not available for redemption by Corporate Cards, Allied Liquor and Tasman Liquor American Express Gold Business Cards, and is not redeemable for cash via Credit balance refund. American Express will select and display each eligible charge for Use Points for Your Charges (“Eligible Charge”) and the Points required to pay for the Eligible Charge. Each Eligible Charge must: (a) appear within the first 150 transactions of the Online Statement of the Summary of Accounts page; (b) be redeemed within 2 months of the charge appearing on your Card Account; (c) not currently or have previously been disputed; and (d) not be a fee. Eligible Charges, including the points rate required to pay for the Eligible Charge, may be changed at any time without notice. Use Points for Your Charges transactions can only be completed online. Use Points for Your Charges is available only to Basic Card Members enrolled in the New Zealand Membership Rewards programme and is subject to the full Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions.
