One of the main perks of running your own business is creating your own schedule. If you’ve reached a stage where you trust your employees enough to run the ship when you’re away, congratulations. Now here are some ideas on where to go:
1. Go all-inclusive
Consider an affordable stay at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino where golf, spa and conference space is readily available, or the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, where beaches and pools are the main attraction—but there’s still meeting space if you have to close a deal.
2. Invest in something more permanent
This is a great way to ensure that you get away every once in a while. St. Lucia’s Sugar Beach Residences offer ownership options for those who can afford a beachside cottage mansion. The same goes for the Dominican Republic’s majestically epic Cap Cana Resort. Since the economy hasn’t yet recovered, prices are still below market value.
3. Cruise the Amazon River
The Iberostar’s Grand Amazon offers meeting and conference space (though at the moment Wi-Fi is not entirely reliable). Or, if you’d prefer the French Riviera (and reliable Wi-Fi), try Club Med 2. Train travel is another way to go: the luxurious Rocky Mountaineer winds through Western Canada, and the VIA covers Montreal and the Gaspe region.
4. Scale spires, slopes and crests in the Canadian Bugaboos with Canadian Mountain Holidays
There are also group getaways exclusively for women: the Bodacious Getaway and Stretch and Stir retreats. In Park City, Utah, there are 150 miles of bike trails and 325 miles of hiking trails to conquer. Deer Valley Resort’s ski lifts still run in the summer months and carry up bikes instead of skis and snowboards.
5. Go to camp
Check out Swell Women in Hawaii, a yoga-surf camp, or the spiritually balancing retreats led by Portals to the Self: A Women’s Circle by the Sea to Isla Mujeres, Mexico and Machu Picchu, Peru. And both sexes can re-center with a few days away practicing integral yoga meditation and lifestyle at Satchidananda Ashram - Yogaville in Virginia.
6. Go international
For some high-rolling in China or Hong Kong, the Galaxy Macau opened in May with 2,000 rooms across three hotels, more than 50 restaurants and bars, and a rooftop wave pool.
