Help us keep your data up to date
As a financial service provider, we are legally obligated to keep our cardmembers' data up to date and check it regularly. This helps us to prevent money laundering and terrorism financing in accordance with the AML (Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Act), thereby contributing to a safer society.
Verify your details when we send you requests
Periodically, we will contact you with the request to review and if needed update your details. You will automatically receive notifications via your American Express online account, the Amex App®, via email or by postal mail.
It is important to action these requests, so that you can continue to make use of your American Express Card and we can comply with our legal obligations.
What we might ask of you
Home address
Please check that the address shown is also the address where you currently live. It is important that your address details are correct. If necessary, please update the details.
Income and occupation
If you have a personal card, we may ask for your current income and occupation, including the sector you work in.
Name change on ID
In case your official name, as shown on your ID, has changed, please send a copy of a valid ID:
- Passport;
- European identity card (issued in an EU or EEA country).
A driver's license will not be accepted.
A copy of both the front and back is required; in case of a passport, copy both sides of the hard plastic ID page. We advise you to shield your BSN (citizen service number). We may ask for a second document to verify your name change.
Business client?
This verification request also applies if you have a Business or Corporate Card. If you are a contact person or programme administrator for a Business or Corporate Card programme, you will periodically receive an email or letter requesting you to check and if necessary, update your company details. Request for information and/or documentation from American Express
Yes, American Express may ask for the total annual income and occupation of private cardholders by email, letter or via a message in your online account. Under no circumstances will we ask for your security codes, online passwords or PINs.

In case your personal details, for example your address, change, please inform us in a timely manner.
You can easily do this via below methods:
- Log in to your online account at americanexpress.nl/login. You can change your address and name via the 'Beheer uw account' (Manage your account) / 'Persoonlijke gegevens' (Personal information) section. In case you have a Corporate Card, please contact us as mentioned below.
- Reach out to us through our 24/7 live chat or call the phone number on the back of your American Express Card.
If we need documentation from you, please go to your online account, follow the instructions indicated and you can safely upload the necessary documents.
If you have additional cards, follow the same steps for each card.
If you haven’t heard anything in response, you can assume that it was received correctly. If the submitted documentation is illegible or incomplete, American Express will contact you.
If additional information or documentation is required or if the provided documentation is incomplete, we will contact you again to request the missing information.
To ensure that you can continue to use all the benefits of your American Express Card, it is imperative that you send the required documentation. As a financial service provider, we are required by law to regularly check and update the data and identity of our cardmembers.
Your American Express Card or Account may be blocked and eventually cancelled if you fail to provide the required information or documentation. Any additional cards will also be blocked and eventually cancelled. If an additional cardholder fails to provide the required documentation, only the additional card will be blocked and eventually cancelled.
