Standing Instructions on your American Express® Card
You can now set up and seamlessly manage your domestic Standing Instructions (SIs) with select merchants on our SI Hub.
Setting up Standing Instructions:
You can set up recurring payments with the merchants listed below by visiting their respective website.
For security purposes, a one-time password (OTP) will be generated during the registration process for the mandate.Your mandate will be set up with the respective merchant after a successful authentication through OTP.

Managing your Standing Instructions
- Create User ID and Password, one time sign up.
- Once you login, you can view all the mandates that you have set up.
- You can choose Edit the end date, amount or Cancel it.
Here’s something you should know
There’s a mandatory Additional Factor Authentication where you’ll also receive a one-time password from American Express if:
- A bill payment is higher than INR 1,00,000 for Insurance transactions and INR 15,000 for rest of the categories.
- The amount of your bill payment exceeds the deductible limit you set when you registered for recurring payments.
Please be sure to enter the necessary authentications prior to the due date of your bill.
Frequently Asked Questions
We are required to comply with the requirements as advised by RBI, and therefore, we cannot migrate existing Standing Instructions to our solution. You will be required to re-register your Standing Instructions with the merchant once the merchant integration is completed. Until then, please continue to make payments directly to your service providers.
You cannot setup a standing instruction through the SI Hub. SI Hub is the interface where all the American Express Cardmembers can view and manage their standing instructions. You will need to set up the Standing Instruction at the merchant’s end. We are in the process of integrating merchants on this new portal.
American Express will only be able to process recurring domestic transactions once merchant integration is complete (which is currently work in progress). Once a particular domestic merchant has been integrated, you will have to set up your Standing Instructions through the merchant website/app. Unfortunately, we do not have a solution in place for international transactions/cross border transactions. You will need to make these payments directly to the service providers to avoid any disruptions.
We cannot set up the Standing Instructions for you as it must be initiated by you through the domestic merchant.
You can pause a Standing instruction for one month. If you need to pause the instructions for more than one month, you can cancel the existing mandate and register a fresh one with the merchant whenever you want to resume the services.
When you register for a mandate, a test charge for a token amount is charged to your Card. This charge will be reversed and won’t be billed to your account.
You can modify the end date and maximum amount for a Standing instruction using the SI hub.
Yes, you can cancel your standing instruction through your SI hub account
RBI regulations require an approval for any auto payment worth INR 15000 or above. The payment would have gone through automatically if the amount was INR 15000 or below. Please note, in accordance with RBI notification dated Dec 12, 2023 only for Insurance transactions, payment will go through automatically if the amount is INR 1,00,000 or below. For transactions above INR 1,00,000, a notification will be sent for the approval.
You can continue to initiate timely payments at merchant website/app (both domestic & international) in order to enjoy uninterrupted service using your American Express Card. While we are trying to make this transition in your payment journey as smooth as possible, we urge you to also check with your service provider for any additional steps to be taken to ensure you can continue to make the most of your American Express Card.

Follow the steps below to create a new User ID and password:
- Click the ‘Sign up’ tab on the SI Hub login page.
- Next, enter the following details:
- Name
- Email ID
- Create a password
- Confirm the password
- Then, click ‘Sign up’ to complete the process
Once you have completed the sign-up process, we will send you an email containing a code and a link to the verification page. You will need to enter that code on the verification page to validate the email ID you provided during the registration process. Your email ID will be your User ID – it can also be a different email ID than the one used to register your Online Account.
Once you have logged into your account on the SI Hub, you can then add your Card(s) so you can view and manage your e-mandates.
Follow the steps below to add a Card:
- First, click ‘Add New Card’.
- Next, enter the complete Card number and name on the Card (this is optional), then complete the CAPTCHA process.
- INR 2 will be charged to the Card for authentication – this amount will be reversed and will not post to your account. To authenticate the charge, we will send a one-time password (OTP) to your registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP when prompted to complete the process
Once the Card is successfully authenticated, all e-mandates corresponding to that Card number will be displayed. If needed, you can repeat this process to add another American Express Card.
- In line with the RBI guidelines. all Standing Instructions (SIs) are required to be processed in adherence of tokenization framework (thus effective 01 Oct 2022, SI can only be processed post a credit card number has been converted into a unique token)
Please be advised that there is no actionable that is required at your end as we are working with merchants to ensure seamless implementation of this framework. Once our solution is live we will update you, till then, you may need to make payments directly to each merchant you previously registered for standing instructions. You can still pay using your American Express Card – simply log into the merchant’s website or app and enter your Card details to complete your payment each time. Post October 1, 2022 you may need to make payments directly to each merchant you previously registered for standing instructions. In line with the RBI guidelines, we are working on a solution to transition SIs to tokenization framework In this regard, we had sent an email communication to you as well. We have stopped new SI registrations till we have this solution operational. You can still pay using your American Express Card – simply log into the merchant’s website or app and enter your Card details to complete your payment each time. We will send further communication to let you know when the SIs servicing would resume.

The SI you registered with us on SI hub portal may not get honored however, on the SI hub you will be able to continue view them, they will not get deleted. The SI registered will start getting honored once our solution is available. Until then you can make the payments for these transactions manually using your American Express Card – simply log into the merchant’s website or
