AMEX APP
App and app features are available for only American Express® cards issued in the United States, with the exception of American Express Prepaid Cards and cards issued by non-American Express issuers, will be able to use the features of the U.S. Amex App.
For American Express Cards issue out of the United States, please search in the App Store or Google Play to download the Amex App specific for the country of issuance of your Card.
The latest version of the Amex App is available for iPhone / iPad and Android phone / tablet through the App Store and Google Play Store. Please see the Apple and Android App store to find and download the latest operating system. Certain features may not be available if you already have an older version of the app installed on your phone.
Once you have the app downloaded on your iPhone or Android phone, simply log in using the same user ID and password you use on americanexpress.com. If you do not have a user ID and password, you can create them directly in the app or by visiting this page.
You can access up to 6 months of your billing statements as PDFs. Go to the Statements section and select your current statement or a previous statement. Tap on the “Statement PDF” link to download.
If you would like to make a payment through the Amex App, you must register your a U.S. bank account online at americanexpress.com/pbc or through the app and agree to the Pay By Computer terms. Once the bank account is registered, you will be able to submit a payment by tapping 'Make Payment' located on either at the home or statements sections.

Push notifications provide you relevant and useful information about your Card Account and activity when you need it. For example, you might receive a push notification when there is a potentially fraudulent charge or if you turn on purchase alerts on your phone, you will notify when a charge is made on your Card.
To receive push notifications, please follow these simply steps:
- Log into Amex App and select appropriate Card
- Tap on “Account” on the bottom right corner
- Tap on “Notifications”
- Tap each notification type and slide toggle “On” or “Off” to adjust preference
Notifications selected will display only on this device and will not change other device notifications, emails, or text messages received from American Express. To update those settings, go to your other device or visit us at americanexpress.com/profile.
By enabling push notifications in the Amex App, we will instantly notify you when suspicious charges are detected. Unlike with the emails or SMS alerts you may otherwise receive, if you made the charge, you will be able to verify the charge right in the app without having to call us or visit our website. Also, if you suspect the charge is fraudulent, you can call our Account Protection Services with just one tap. You can adjust your SMS and email account alerts by logging in to americanexpress.com.
By turning on purchase alerts, you will receive a push notification when there is purchase activity on your Card. Purchase activity includes purchases made with your plastic Card or a mobile wallet, as well as pre-authorizations made on your Card by merchants like gas stations and hotels, which are temporary and subject to change.
If you also have notifications for this Card enabled in a mobile wallet, you may receive more than one notification.
Note that if you turn on purchase alerts and are enrolled in Card Not Present alerts via SMS or email, you will receive both a purchase alert from the Amex App and an SMS or email alert. You can adjust your SMS and email account alerts by logging into americanexpress.com.
Amex Offers provides Card Members more ways to save every day. Simply locate nearby offers on a map, select the offers you want to add to your Card, pay with your Amex Card, and see the savings add up on your account as statement credits or Membership Rewards Bonus Points.
For iPhone users, you can also receive alerts when an offer you have enrolled in is about to expire.

If you are enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program, you can use points to cover eligible charges in the Amex App. For select charges, we provide the option for you to use points right after you swipe or tap to pay. CONTACTLESS
Yes, it's very secure. American Express Contactless Cards use the same encryption technology as our chip & PIN Cards.
If you have one or more contactless Card we don't recommend tapping your wallet onto the reader. Instead, select the Card you prefer to use and tap it directly to the terminal instead.
Your contactless Card is also a Chip & PIN Card. You decide how you use your Card. Simply mention the retailer you'd prefer not to use contactless.
Plus all your Chip & PIN and contactless purchases are eligible for rewards like any other transaction.
When you first use your new contactless Card, you may have to enter your PIN to activate the contactless feauture. This is normal and will only happen once.
Not all merchants accept contactless. Check the Card reader is enabled for American Express contactless payments by looking for the contactless symbol. If it is but your Card isn't working, log into your Account online to request a new one. You can still use your Card with your PIN in the meantime.
You can use your Contactless Card abroad in mostly places where the contactless symbol and American Express logo are displayed. The transaction limit for American Express contactless payments varies in each country, therefore sometimes you may be asked to enter your PIN. If contactless capability is not available, you can still pay with your Card's Chip & PIN.

1. Using Points for Your Charges
When you use points for your charges, you are using points towards specific, eligible charges.
2. Who can use points for eligible charges
To use points for eligible charges, you must:
Be a Basic Consumer or OPEN Card Member
All linked Card Accounts must not be canceled, past due or have a returned payment outstanding
You must have at least 1,000 available points in your program Account.
Additional Card Members, Authorized Additional Card Members, and Corporate Card Members are not eligible. Account managers and Rewards managers may be eligible to use points by calling the number on the back of your Card but are not eligible to use points online.
3. Available Charges
American Express will present the eligible charges you can use points towards, and we may change which charges are eligible at any time without notice. American Express is under no obligation to make charges available for redemption using Membership Rewards points.
Generally, these charges meet the following criteria:
The charge must appear in Recent Activity or in your Current Statement
The charge has never been disputed
The charge must be at least $1
4. How to Use Points for Your Charges
When you use points for an eligible charge, the points will be deducted immediately from your program Account, and an accompanying credit will be applied to your Linked Card Account within 48 hours. You may use points only toward the entire amount of an eligible charge.
If a credit is processed after your Card Account's statement closing date, it will appear in your next statement. In any case, you are responsible for paying the full amount due on your Card Account by the due date.
