The St. Regis Toronto

Trendsetting and boundary breaking, The St. Regis Toronto made its debut in November 2018 at the city's most coveted address.  In 2023, The St. Regis Toronto and The Spa at The St. Regis Toronto were awarded the coveted Five Star Hotel and Five Star Spa ratings.  Rising 65 stories in the heart of downtown Toronto, the hotel offers a remarkably central location, modern elegance and bespoke butler service along with 258 of the city's largest guest rooms and suites that set the standard for luxury in Canada. With 124 suites, The St. Regis Toronto has the largest luxury suite collection in Canada. From St. Regis' iconic champagne sabering ritual each evening in the elegant Astor Lounge to the award-winning LOUIX LOUIS Grand Bar & Restaurant and to the newly minted Forbes Five Star awarded The Spa, The St. Regis Toronto offers the city’s most distinguished experiences.

The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto

Some might choose The Ritz-Carlton because of its great downtown location, in the heart of the financial and performing arts districts. Others might come because it delivers all the luxurious facilities and attentive service you’d expect of a five-star. But for keen turophiles what really sells it is the fact that it’s the only hotel in Canada to have its own cheese cave. It’s housed within TOCA, an Italian restaurant that puts a contemporary spin on classic dishes. Other gourmet treats include afternoon tea and gastropub-style food in Epoch and bar-food favourites in Ritz Bar. There’s a big lure for wellness-lovers, too, in the form of the highly-rated Spa myBlend (the only one in North America to offer Spa MyBlend’s highly personalised treatments), a saltwater indoor pool, and a 24-hour fitness centre. And if all you care about is your room, The Ritz-Carlton gets big ticks on that front, too. Following a recent revamp, the rooms and suites are looking particularly gorgeous; expect plenty of space, good views through large windows, and a chic contemporary look that induces instant serenity.

Shangri-La Toronto

Given the Shangri-La’s location in one of Toronto’s tallest towers, it’s not surprising that bedrooms at this high-end hotel get a great view thrown in with the five-star surroundings. Even entry-level rooms enjoy a good vantage point over the downtown streets, along with Asian-inspired décor, Frette bed linens and marble-clad bathrooms with L’Occitane toiletries. Upgrading to the higher-floor suites opens up yet broader vistas and brings extra perks such as room-service breakfast each morning and a gift bag of Shangri-La goodies. The hotel’s wellness facilities include a gym, lap pool and Miraj Hammam Spa, which brings a touch of the Middle East to Toronto. As well as offering Sodashi and Biologique Recherche treatments, the spa specialises in hammam gommage (exfoliation with eucalyptus-infused black Moroccan soap) and rhassoul clay masques. Down at ground level, the popular Lobby Lounge lays on a stylish afternoon tea and seasonally inspired cocktails, while Bosk restaurant serves up modern Canadian cuisine with a slight Asian twist. Look out for dishes and drinks containing B-Wall honey, produced by the hotel’s own bees. And don’t miss (not that you could) Zhang Huan’s extraordinary sculpture by the hotel entrance, made up of a twisted, dragon-shaped tree and countless doves.

Four Seasons Hotel Toronto

Locals and visitors alike love dining and drinking at the Four Seasons. The street-level d|bar is one of the places to see and be seen in upscale Yorkville, especially in summer when outdoor terrace tables make for prime people-watching. The food here and in the second-floor restaurant Café Boulud is masterminded by renowned chef Daniel Boulud, who took culinary inspiration from his French roots in creating a seasonally-changing menu of bistro classics and contemporary dishes. The hotel spa complete with pool and fitness centre, is a cut-above, too. Favourite treatments include the Deep Tissue Massage but a new Wellness & Bio Bar menu also provides less expected experiences including hypnosis and Celluma light therapy. If you need to work, hotel staff can supply anything from monitors and Moleskin notebooks to Bluetooth printers and blue-light glasses, while families can order in goodies like Playstations and toy-vending machines. Bedrooms feel fresh and bright, with subtle floral prints and textured fabrics adding interest to a serenely neutral colour palette. The Canadian artworks on the walls are inspired by the country’s landscapes and wildlife but there’s nothing rustic about the in-room technology, which includes a smart TV, Bose stereo system and a desk-side charging station for electronic devices.

The Hazelton Hotel

The Hazelton Hotel is nestled in the heart of Yorkville, the epicenter of fashion, art, and lifestyle in Canada. It is an iconic landmark and the only member of The Leading Hotels of The World in the city. From its perch on the cobblestone tree-lined Yorkville Avenue, the hotel offers access to the city’s galleries, shopping, and nightlife and you’ll also find an extensive art collection displayed throughout the building.  The Hazelton offers 77 lavish hotel rooms and suites designed by the internationally renowned design firm Yabu Pushelberg. The high-ceilinged rooms are super-chic, decorated in soft shades of grey with curvy sofas and galaxy-green marble bathrooms. As you’d expect, the in-house facilities are excellent too: there’s a stylish spa from prestigious Swiss brand Valmont (including a fitness room, eucalyptus steam rooms and saltwater lap-pool). It is also home to the state-of-the-art Norman Jewison Cinema, a 25-seat private cinema, boasting DCP technology. The hotel's ONE Restaurant, is helmed by the renowned Chef Darby Piquette, offering world-class cuisine. The elegant bar, spacious wrap-around patio and lavish dining room make for an immersive dining experience day or night. ONE Restaurant also features a heated atrium which is a covered, weather-defiant oasis, allowing for outdoor dining all year round.

1 Hotel Toronto

If a commitment to sustainability governs your accommodation choices, your Toronto hotel search probably stops right here. The 1 Hotel’s brand has based its whole ethos around being as planet-friendly as possible, whilst at the same time treating guests to a luxury experience. This urban oasis celebrates the beauty of Ontario’s natural landscapes and looks stylish enough to grace the pages of any glossy lifestyle mag. The hotel entrance sets the tone, flanked by boulders, native shrubs and trailing plants; indoors, there’s a soothing colour palette of muted natural shades, plus flooring and furniture made from reclaimed woods, and an abundance of greenery everywhere you look. The two restaurants and two bars source their raw ingredients as locally and sustainably as possible, including fresh herbs, flowers and greens grown on-site. Try 1 Kitchen for contemporary farm-to-fork dishes and Casa Madera for a chef-driven Mexican-Mediterranean inspired menu, or head to Harriet’s Rooftop – next to the rooftop pool-with-a-view – for Japanese small plates and sushi and Flora Lounge for expertly crafted cocktails and nutrient-rich health drinks. Guest wellness is a key focus for the hotel, which provides bikes to borrow and bedroom yoga mats as well as a well equipped gym, personal trainers and group fitness classes.

The Drake Hotel

The vibe at The Drake is buzzy and energetic - think party pad rather than peaceful retreat. This boutique hotel, in the lively Queen West district, isn’t just a place to stay but also a much-loved local neighbourhood hangout and a hub for contemporary art and culture. Its walls are filled with an ever-changing collection of boundary-pushing artworks and its basement venue, Drake Underground, hosts a constant stream of DJs, indie music acts, poetry slams and comedy shows. You can eat well all day long here, whether in the café, lounge or rooftop patio – good news for Gold and Platinum Cardmembers, who get USD$100 Experience Credit to spend on qualifying dining, spa and resort activities when they book a stay of two nights or more from The Hotel Collection. At the end of 2021 the hotel opened its new Modern Wing, home to a swish new lobby/living room and an intimate lobby bar. The extension also added a further 32 rooms to the 19 in the original building, now known as the Classic Wing. All feature bold colours and clashing patterns and come with a minibar stocked with local snacks and drinks plus exclusive Malin+Goetz toiletries in the glass-walled bathrooms.

Fairmont Royal York

An historic landmark in the heart of downtown, Fairmont Royal York is just minutes away from some of Toronto’s biggest attractions, including the CN Tower and Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. Conveniently, the UP Express is a fast and reliable 25 min direct train from the airport to Union Station, located across the street from the hotel. On the outside, this grand railway hotel still looks much as it did when it first opened in 1929. Following a multi-million-dollar revitalisation, completed in 2019, featuring a modern Art Deco reimaging of the hotel’s stunning lobby, new and award-winning dining venues with impressive cocktail program, and modernised guest rooms - the perfect place for Gold and Platinum Cardmembers to splash the USD$100 Experience Credit they receive when booking two nights or more from The Hotel Collection, which can be spent on qualifying dining, spa, and resort activities. Most impressive of the recent innovations is the introduction of Fairmont Gold, an exclusive hotel-within-a-hotel occupying the 12th to 18th floors. Rooms here have a high-end residential feel and come with extra perks like aromatherapy shower capsules, dedicated check-in and access to the chic 18th-floor lounge, where you can enjoy complimentary deluxe breakfasts presentations, snacks, drinks and evening canapés.

The Omni King Edward Hotel

Built in 1903, the ‘King Eddy’ was Toronto’s first luxury hotel and today retains all the features you’d expect of such an historic property. That includes a prime downtown location (within walking distance of the CN Tower, St Lawrence Market and Scotiabank Arena), grand public areas and lots of flexible meeting space, including three ballrooms (in one of which Richard Burton proposed to Elizabeth Taylor in 1964). There’s also a new spa, offering face and body treatments – which might be one way for Gold and Platinum Cardmembers to spend the USD$100 Experience Credit (valid on qualifying dining, spa and resort activities) that comes with bookings of two nights or more via The Hotel Collection. The 301 guest rooms and suites have been sleekly made over to meet 21st-century demands and come as a colourful contrast to the muted tones of other five stars. The background may be mostly white, silver-grey and black but there are bold splashes of bright red in feature walls, cushions and sofas. On the food front, afternoon tea in Victoria Café is a long-standing tradition, while Consort Bar has a globally-influenced menu that features the likes of miso-glazed salmon, sage buttered gnocchi and all-Canadian burgers.
