Reigning over three restaurants, panoramic L'Oiseau Blanc boasts two Michelin stars and breathtaking views over Paris' rooftops and the Eiffel Tower. Meanwhile theatrical LiLi offers the best Cantonese cuisine and historical Le Lobby welcomes guests in its grand setup for an all-day international dining. The elegant Bar Kléber, the exclusive cigar lounge and the romantic secret rooftop tables offer a rare array of options. For an interlude of beauty and ease, the spa dedicates its 1,800-sq m space and 20-metre pool to a holistic approach of wellness.

Hôtel de Crillon

They don’t come much more central than this: the 18th-century Hôtel de Crillon enjoys a prime spot on the Place de la Concorde. The hotel reopened as a Rosewood property in 2017, following a four-year renovation that respected the historic soul of the building but added a contemporary polish. Bedrooms are sophisticated, decorated in soft tones, furnished with bespoke pieces and thoughtful details. If you’re pushing the boat out, opt for one of the 10 signature suites, including two designed by Karl Lagerfeld. On the wellness front, there’s a chic spa, a pool lined with gold scales, a fitness studio and a hair salon. There is also plenty of choice when it comes to exquisite eateries, including a grill room, Nonos par Paul Pairet, and Michelin-starred L’Écrin, where the chef creates a bespoke menu based around your choice of beverage. Don’t miss out on cocktails in the spectacular Bar Les Ambassadeurs; if you like what you drink, you can sign up for a cocktail masterclass, one of several exclusive guest experiences.

Le Bristol Paris

An icon of French elegance, Le Bristol Paris is located at one of the city's prestigious addresses on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Its renovated décor elegantly blends contemporary art with the timeless Louis XVl furniture, offering an experience that is both modern and steeped in tradition. It’s family-friendly, business-friendly and pet-friendly. Restaurants include the 3 Michelin-starred Epicure and the slightly more casual 114 Faubourg, which holds a Michelin star of its own, lead by Executive Chef Arnaud Faye. The hotel doesn’t just have its own bakery but its own flour mill, tucked away in the basement along with a cheese cellar, wine cave and chocolate factory. Relax in the lush, 13,000 square foot courtyard garden, or with a teatime at Café Antonia, Spa Le Bristol by La Prairie is a temple for wellbeing with its iconic rooftop swimming pool. Mandarin Oriental, Paris

Mandarin Oriental, Paris's location on boutique-lined rue Saint-Honoré makes it popular with any fashion-conscious crowd while Place Vendôme, the Garnier Opera, Tuileries Gardens and the Louvre are all close by. Think of a designer name (Versace, Armani, Dior…) and there’s every chance they’ll have a store within yards of the front door. The building has historic roots but the décor throughout is exquisite, from the cloud of Swarovski butterflies fluttering over the lobby to the Lalique crystals set into the dark-wood walls of the bar 8. In the bedrooms, bold splashes of colour break up a largely neutral colour palette; oversized velvet bedheads are printed with Man Ray’s ‘The Kiss’; and the sumptuous, white marble bathrooms come with Frederic Malle toiletries. Treatments in the Oriental-inspired spa range from CBD sleep therapy to indulgent bathing rituals and holistic facials; there’s also a fitness centre and 14-metre lap pool. On the food front, Camélia offers and an-day menu of French and international dishes. In the summertime the lushly landscaped outdoor terraces at Camélia offer peaceful or unforgettable moments with family and friends.

Le Meurice

Reigning over the Rue de Rivoli since 1815, Le Meurice is every inch a grand hotel with facilities to match, including a Valmont spa, Cédric Grolet patisserie and lavish event spaces. It’s also very big on art, with modern artworks dotted throughout the hotel, the Louvre just down the road, and a number of art-themed guest experiences. There are plenty of fascinating anecdotes about the many famous artists who’ve stayed here before, too, including Salvador Dali, who (accompanied by pet ocelot Babou) made this a second home. With Alain Ducasse overseeing all food, you know you’ll eat well. Choose between the Philippe-Starck designed Restaurant Le Dali (which celebrates local, seasonal French cuisine) or the Restaurant Le Meurice Alain Ducasse, which has two Michelin stars to its name. Even entry-level guest rooms are packed with luxurious details, like fresh orchids, Garnier-Thiebaut linens and toiletries from Maison Francis Kurkdjian, but if money’s no object, go straight for the Belle Etoile Penthouse Suite.

Lutetia Paris

All but one of Paris’s ‘Palace’ hotels are on the Right Bank. Lutetia Paris is the exception, located at boulevard Raspail and rue de Sèvres in the 6th arrondissement. It’s a prime location for foodie souvenirs, with La Grande Epicerie, Poilâne bakery and Beaupassage nearby. The hotel offers plenty of culinary delights: seafood at Brasserie Lutetia, afternoon tea under the stained-glass ceiling of Salon Saint Germain, and superior snacks at Bar Aristide and Bar Josephine. Josephine Baker was a regular guest and other famous names include Catherine Deneuve, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Ernest Hemingway and James Joyce. The hotel combines a Belle Epoque façade with contemporary-chic interiors. Design features include a sleek modern spa and gym, and elegant bedrooms with brushed oak floors, fluted wood panelling, bespoke furniture and Carrara marble bathrooms.

Ritz Paris

Ritz Paris sits in prime position on one of the finest squares in Paris, Place Vendôme. The hotel’s lavish interiors retain their historic opulence but come accompanied by all the modern-day luxuries, from a floral-themed spa and mosaic-tiled pool to a choice of restaurants and bars. Among them is the famed (but tiny) Bar Hemingway, where martinis are the cocktail of choice. There’s also an in-house cookery school, L’Ecole Ritz Escoffier, offering classes and courses for all ages and skill levels. Bedrooms are suitably sumptuous, with chandeliers, marble fireplaces and gold swan taps, plus TVs incorporated into grand gilded mirrors. Many suites also have design features that reflect famous former guests – a writing desk and bookcases in Suite Hemingway, a grand piano in Suite Chopin, and, in Suite Coco Chanel, some of the designer’s own furnishings. Round the corner on Rue Cambon, you’ll find Le Comptoir, the hotel’s gourmet shop, where you can pick up elegant sandwiches and pastries for the very finest picnic, stock up on foodie souvenirs like So Ritzy jams and boxes of madeleines, and buy possibly the world’s poshest spatulas and aprons.

Hotel Plaza Athénée Paris

The luxurious Hotel Plaza Athénée Paris looks instantly Parisian, its classic façade enlivened by bright red awnings and window boxes full of scarlet geraniums. No prizes for guessing the hotel’s signature colour, which pops up in furnishings and artworks throughout. With a prime location on the prestigious Avenue Montaigne, surrounded by boutiques from the likes of Dior, Louis Vuitton and Prada, it’s no wonder it has long-standing links with the fashion and design crowd. There are signature Dorchester Collection toiletries in the bathrooms, a serenely stylish Dior spa, and the whole place buzzes during fashion week. An impressive five restaurants and a bar make this a respected foodie destination, too. Highlights include the Michelin-starred Jean Imbert au Plaza Athénée, which serves traditional French cuisine in a jewel of a dining room, aglow with candles and chandeliers. Rooms come in two styles: classic or Art Deco. Either way, they’re sophisticated affairs, kitted out with luxury linens, gourmet minibars and, in several cases, views of the Eiffel Tower. Business travellers will find the chicest of meeting rooms, while families and pets are equally welcome. There’s also an intriguing selection of guest experiences, including macarons or croissant pastry classes.

Saint James Paris

It might seem a waste to be in Paris and never set foot outside your hotel – but it’s an entirely understandable temptation if you’re staying at Saint James Paris. About as romantic as hotels come, this 19th-century mansion, a member of Relais & Chateaux, is set in its own private gardens and tucked away in a quiet corner of the upscale 16th arrondissement. It’s also looking lovelier than ever, following a 2022 top-to-toe revamp by Laura Gonzalez, a designer who’s a dab hand at mixing assorted patterns and textures to create a harmonious whole. If you are enticed by some sightseeing, stroll 15 minutes to the Arc de Triomphe or the Trocadero 10 minutes away. Other green ways to travel include borrowing the hotel’s bikes or even hiring an electric car for trips further afield. On the other hand, it’s just so tempting to chill out amid the greenery of the garden, or enjoy being pampered in the Guerlain spa. Settle in for a long, lazy lunch or dinner at Bellefeuille restaurant, with Chef Gregory Garimbay's changing menus with the seasons, sourcing raw ingredients from local suppliers and using honey from the hotel’s own hives.

Four Seasons Hotel George V

There’s no denying the George V lobby is impressive. It’s not just the space itself, grand though it is; it’s the spectacular floral displays, created by artistic director Jeff Leatham and team. That’s not the only thing that sets this Art Deco landmark apart. Where most hotels would be content with one Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V has three. Le Cinq (three stars) showcases the finest French gastronomy in majestic period surroundings while Le George (one star) specialises in modern Mediterranean cuisine and L’Orangerie (two stars) focuses on light plant- and fish-based dishes. There’s also a cosy bar and all-day dining lounge. Bedrooms are big and beautifully appointed and harmoniously blend classic and contemporary design elements, featuring chic and timeless decor. Book a signature suite and extra perks come thick and fast: in the Penthouse Suite, that includes a private terrace with fabulous views over the Eiffel Tower and the Parisian skyline. On the wellness front, you can retreat to the spa, with its pool, fitness centre and elegant treatment rooms, and when you fancy exploring, exclusive guest experiences include a  unique a joyful and authentic farm-to-table gourmand journey in the rustic yet chic atmosphere of the hotel's kitchen garden.
