SafeKey is a service that prevents fraudulent activity at checkout by ensuring it is the Cardholder making the purchase. SafeKey enables you to use your Membership Rewards points to pay at thousands of online stores, travel brands, takeaways and many more.
How to redeem:
At checkout, choose to pay with Membership Rewards points, your American Express® Card, or a combination of both.
Select ‘View Points Options’ on the SafeKey screen after checkout to begin redemption.
Confirm the amount of points you wish to redeem and click 'use points'.
1. These Terms and Conditions are subject to the Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions you agreed to when you signed your Card Account Agreement. Together, the SafeKey Pay with Points Terms and Conditions and the Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions apply to your use of the SafeKey Pay with Points redemption option
2. You cannot redeem points if:
a) you have a credit balance on your Card Account or (if applicable) your Flexselect Account;
b) a credit will cause your Card Account or (if applicable) your Flexselect Account to have a credit balance; or
c) you have missed a payment on your Card Account or (if applicable) your Flexselect Account.
3. If you return the goods or cancel the service you’ve purchased from the seller, then any refund you receive will be credited to your Card Account. Your Points Account will not be reimbursed. If you prefer that we reimburse your Points Account then please contact us using the Online Services Account centre or by calling Customer Services using the number on the back of your Card.
4. If you have a Flexselect Account:
a) any purchases over the set threshold we have told you about will be added to your Flexselect Account (provided they're within your credit limit);
b) we will debit your Points Account with the points you’ve asked to redeem and credit your Card Account (not your Flexselect Account) with the corresponding amount, including for partial redemptions, where the number of points redeemed does not cover the entire purchase amount;
c) if there are no other transactions or amounts owed from prior periods on your Charge Account then, on the date your monthly statement is produced, any credit available on your Charge Account will automatically be offset against the outstanding balance on your Flexselect Account. This means that for partial redemptions, the rest of the purchase amount will remain on the Flexselect Account;
d) the credit may not appear on the same Card Account statement as the purchase; and
e) if you miss a payment on your Card Account or Flexselect Account then the points that you have earned in the previous month will be forfeited and deducted from your Points Account (which may result in a negative Points Account balance).

We have outlined this option to indicate the breadth of Membership Rewards redemption options available to Cardmembers.
How to redeem:
Use your American Express® Card and complete checkout.
Select ‘View Points Options’ on SafeKey screen after checkout to begin redemption.
Note: There are a small number of transactions where you won’t see SafeKey pop up during your transaction, including any recurring payments with Climeworks. You are able to redeem for the same purchase at the same value when you use points towards purchases.
Safekey Pay with Points Terms and Conditions
1. These Terms and Conditions are subject to the Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions you agreed to when you signed your Card Account Agreement. Together, the SafeKey Pay with Points Terms and Conditions and the Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions apply to your use of the SafeKey Pay with Points redemption option

Enjoy more ways to travel the world. You can transfer your Membership Rewards points to an Amex loyalty partner programme, like your favourite airline and hotel.
How to redeem:
Log in and select an airline or hotel loyalty partner on Membership Rewards.
Enter the number of points you want to transfer.
Review your selection and confirm your request by clicking ‘Transfer my points'.
Use Points to Book Travel via American Express® Travel

American Express Travel Online is our Cardmember exclusive travel agency. Earn 1 additional Membership Rewards point for every £1 spent on flights, pre-paid hotels, car hire and experiences.
On the results page, you'll be shown the total price using your Card or using Membership Rewards points. Click on the ‘select’ button to state your preference
If you want to use your points, you can either use the toggle bar to select the amount of points you want to use, or, you can type the number of points
Then fill out the remainder of the details and click book now (the points and any cash if used will be deducted from your account).
Membership Rewards is a loyalty programme where Cardmembers are rewarded for eligible spending on their Card by earning points with every transaction.
You can use your points on your next getaway, to dine out with friends, or to pay for your morning coffee. Provided you remain in compliance with the T&Cs and enrolled in the Membership Rewards Programme, your points will not expire.

Unlike many other programmes, your Membership Rewards points have no expiration date.
However, please remember that:
If you end your Card Account agreement and there are no other Linked Cards on your points Account, you will have 30 days from the date you request this to redeem your points. If you do not redeem your points within 30 days, they will be forfeited.
If we cancel or end your Card Account in accordance with the Card Account agreement, you will lose the points that you have earned but not yet redeemed.
If you miss a monthly payment on your Card Account, the points that you have earned in the previous month will be forfeited.
Please review the T&Cs for all situations where Memberships Rewards points may be lost.
About Earning Points
You earn Membership Rewards points for every full pound of eligible spend on your Card. Simply use your American Express Card for your everyday purchases and watch your points add up.
Please note that the following are not eligible spend, so will not earn Membership Rewards points:
Interest;
All fees (including annual membership fees and default fees);
Balance transfers;
Cash advances (including transactions treated as cash);
Loading of pre paid cards;
American Express Travellers Cheque purchases;
Foreign exchange transactions; and
Any amounts that are subsequently credited to your Card Account by way of refunds or other types of credits

It takes 24-48 hours after the charge has appeared on your Account for your Membership Rewards points balance to update accordingly. As a charge may not appear on your account the same day the transaction took place, you may wish to monitor your spend activity online.
The end date of your Membership Rewards statement is usually 4 to 6 days earlier than the end date of your Card statement. So, if you have earned points during this 4 to 6 day period, they will be reflected in your next Membership Rewards statement. If you have a partner loyalty account, it is quick and easy to go online and link the account details to your Membership Rewards account. No, this is not possible. Membership Rewards points can only be transferred into an account in your name.
