Employee Card Misuse Protection is a benefit created specifically for business owners and it provides coverage of up to $100,000 per Basic Cardmember in the event an employee misuses their Employee Card for unauthorized charges.

1. To qualify for the offer, you must add an Employee Business Platinum Card to your account between August 12, 2024 and September 23, 2024 and each Supplementary Business Platinum Cardmember must have at least $2,500 in net purchases posted to their Supplementary Business Platinum Card within the first 3 months after Card approval. You can be eligible to earn up to a total maximum of 90,000 bonus Membership Rewards points during the offer period. The no fee Business Gold Supplementary Card is excluded from this offer. You must apply for a Supplementary Card through the link provided on this page or by calling 1-800-869-3016. American Express reserves the right to approve additional Supplementary Card applications, but you will not be eligible for this offer once you have reached the maximum of three Supplementary Cards. 2. You can redeem Membership Rewards points for a statement credit towards an eligible purchase charged to an eligible Card. All eligible purchases: 1,000 points = $10 statement credit. You must redeem a minimum of 1,000 points per redemption. Eligible purchases include purchases made at American Express merchants and charged to an eligible Card. Funds advances, fees, balance transfers, Amex cheques and charges for travellers cheques are not eligible purchases. American Express may make changes to the types of purchases that are eligible for redemption with Use Points for Purchases at any time without notice. Eligible Cards are Consumer and Small Business Cards enrolled in the Membership Rewards program. Statement credits on your Card account should not exceed the aggregate amount of the Eligible Purchase(s) on your eligible Card. You can register for Online Services to view your eligible purchases and to redeem online. Only eligible purchases posted to your Card account during the last 3 months, up to 150 most recent eligible purchases, will be displayed for redemption. If you wish to redeem points towards an eligible purchase within the last 12 months that is not displayed online, please contact us at the number listed on the back of your Card.

3. Account must be in good standing. Membership Rewards points (points) earned by the Basic Cardmember on all purchases, less credits and adjustments. Interest charges, annual fees, other fees and cash equivalent transactions are not purchases and do not qualify for Membership Rewards points. Earn 1.25 points for every $1.00 in eligible purchases charged to your Card.
4. Global Lounge Collection – Holders of the Business Platinum Card may access participating Canadian and International airport lounges (“Participating Lounges”) on a complimentary basis, upon presentation of the required entry documentation. Participating Lounges may change from time to time. House rules, terms and conditions of Participating Lounges apply. Use of Participating Lounges is subject to availability. Unless otherwise stated, Participating Lounge access cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or benefit and is subject to change or cancellation at any time.
5. Toronto Pearson Valet Service – Basic and Employee Business Platinum Cardmembers must charge the parking fee to their Business Platinum Card for the associated Valet fee to be waived. Toronto Pearson 15% Parking Discount – 15% discount on the cost of parking (including taxes) will be provided as a credit to your Business Platinum Card statement. The parking lot is subject to availability. American Express Basic and Employee Cardmembers with an eligible Card are entitled to access the Pearson Priority Lanes (“Priority Lanes”). The Priority Lanes are serviced by the Greater Toronto Airport Authority. Priority Lanes are located at select departure areas at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport in Terminals 1 & 3. Access to a Pearson Priority Lane is available to eligible Canadian Cardmembers and companions travelling on the same itinerary. The eligible Cardmember can request single-use QR Codes online by visiting go.amex/yyz. For assistance, please call the phone number on the back of your Card. Access to the Priority Lanes is intended for the Basic and Employee Cardmember and a reasonable number of persons travelling with them on the same itinerary. If we determine, in our sole discretion, that a Cardmember (or Employee Cardmember, as applicable) is not using this benefit as intended, we reserve the right to revoke your access to the benefit or to cancel your Card account. All passengers departing from Pearson International Airport, including those accessing the Priority Lane, are required to comply with airport security and customs screening requirements. Priority Lanes access is subject to change or cancellation at any time and additional terms and conditions apply.
6. Fine Hotels + Resorts – Valid only for new Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR) bookings made through Platinum Card Travel Service, Centurion Travel, americanexpress.ca/travel or americanexpress.ca/fhr. Payment must be made with an American Express Card in the Canadian Platinum, Business Platinum, Corporate Platinum, or Centurion Cardmember’s name. Available for Canadian Cardmembers of The Platinum Card®, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, American Express® Corporate Platinum Card or Centurion® Card from American Express. Platinum, Business Platinum, or Centurion Cardmember must travel on the itinerary booked under FHR reservations to be eligible for benefits described. Limit of one (1) benefit package per room per stay. Benefit package can include Noon check-in, Room upgrade, Daily breakfast for two people, guaranteed 4:00 pm late check-out, plus an additional special benefit. Noon check-in and room upgrade based on availability and provided at check-in. Certain room categories are not eligible for room upgrades. Call Platinum Card Travel Service, or Centurion Travel for details. The type and value of the daily breakfast (for two) varies by property. 9. You may select a spending amount up to which an Employee Cardmember will be able to make charges to their Employee Card during each billing period. This spending amount is not affected by payments or credits made by or on behalf of the Employee Cardmember during a billing period. The spending amount will automatically reset at the beginning of each new billing period. It is your responsibility to ensure each Employee Cardmember is made aware of any spending amount that applies to their account as well as the date on which the spending amount resets each month. You can select a different spending amount for each Employee Cardmember.
10. You may change the set spending amount you have previously selected at any time. If the spending amount is increased, the Employee Cardmember’s ability to charge will be increased once we are able to process the change. Unlike the initial enrolment of an Employee Cardmember, charges made by that Employee Cardmember before that date will be included in the spending amount for the current billing period. For example, if an Employee Cardmember has a $1000 spending amount in place and has already made $750 in charges so far this billing period, if you increase the spending amount to $2000 per month, that $750 balance will be included as part of the $2000 spending amount. This means that the Employee Cardmember will only be able to charge $1250 for the remainder of the current billing period and then $2000 for each billing period thereafter.
11. Available to American Express Consumer and Small Business Cards. Not applicable for all new purchases. The following purchases do not qualify and will still be processed even if the Cardmember has frozen the Card: automated or pre-authorized payments, recurring bills or subscriptions, transactions on any Employee Cards if only the Basic Card is frozen (each Employee Card must be frozen separately), mobile wallet transactions (including adding a Card to a mobile wallet), using the Card for online payments at merchants where the Card is stored on file or set up as the method of payment, and offline and delayed authorizations (such as purchases made aboard airlines). After freezing the Card, it will automatically unfreeze after 7 days.
