Waldorf Astoria Berlin

Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of luxury at the iconic Waldorf Astoria Berlin. The distinctive 390-foot-high tower, affectionately known as the "Zoofenster" or Zoo Window is located at the heart of Berlins City West, near the Berlin Zoo, the famous Kurfürsten Damm, and KaDeWe Luxury Shopping Centre. It has become a local landmark, earning critical acclaim for both its interior and amenities. A blend of traditional Art Deco elements and modern style infuses the design with outstanding elegance, combined with the best views over Berlin's bursting metropolis. This sophistication extends from the moody chic of Lang Bar, where you can unwind with film-inspired cocktails, to the serene tranquility of the Waldorf Astoria Spa on the fifth floor. The 1,000 sqm Spa is a unique space, continuously awarded as “Germany's best Hotel Spa”. It awaits guests with a cloud-shaped pool, sauna, and an outdoor terrace. Culinary delights await at the ROCA Restaurant with classic Mediterranean dishes or during afternoon tea with a view of The Library on the 15th Floor. Alternatively, you can explore the city comfortably from your own suite. The top-floor suites, including the 31st-floor Presidential Suite and the slightly lower Tower Suites, boast some of the best panoramic views of Berlin.

The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin

Hotel de Rome

Set inside a 19th-century former bank headquarters on historic Bebelplatz. Hotel de Rome interiors are decidedly swanky. Step into the stunning stone entryway with large magenta urns from Atelier Prométhée and Olivia Steele's neon birdcage - and you're immediately filled with a sense of glamour. Bedrooms are spacious and well-appointed, with a refined neutral colour palette, plush robes and slippers and mosaic-tiled bathrooms. For those travelling with family, the hotel will happily provide all kinds of age-appropriate goodies from motion mobiles, rubber ducks and play mats for babies to magazines, movies and games for teenagers. Downstairs, Chiaro restaurant has a lovely open courtyard and an intriguing Italian Style menu. And hidden within the former bank vaults find a stunning spa, complete with pool, gym, sauna, steam room and a range of body and beauty treatments. Come in summer and there’s an added attraction: you can enjoy great views over the Berlin skyline as you sip champagne on the seasonal rooftop terrace

SO/Berlin Das Stue

Compared to many of the city centre’s hotels, SO/Berlin Das Stue feels a little off the beaten track, tucked away in the diplomatic district on the south-western edge of the Tiergarten. It’s ideal if you’re looking for leafy, peaceful surroundings – but don’t go thinking it’s a sleepy backwater. On the contrary, this is one very trendy bolthole and a firm favourite with the fashion, art and design crowd. It’s also a design lover’s dream, as star Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola masterminded the interiors while Viktor & Rolf created the hotel logo and staff uniforms. There are contemporary artworks dotted throughout the hotel and mini libraries of artistic coffee-table books on the staircase landings. Arne Jacobsen Swan chairs in the bedrooms are a design nod to the fact that this building once housed the Danish embassy, and the next-door zoo gets referenced too, in the form of handcrafted leather animal footstools from Omersa & Co. The Spa by Susanne Kaufmann includes a gym, sauna, pool and massage rooms and The Casual restaurant serves up inventive Mediterranean cuisine in a laidback atmosphere. The unexpected bonus of staying here?

Hilton Berlin

The Hilton Berlin has a conveniently central location in the heart of the Mitte district, on the edge of the historic Gendarmenmarkt, one of Berlin’s most handsome squares. That makes it a great spot for shoppers, with the upscale shops and cafes of Friedrichstrasse just one block to the west, and the huge Rausch chocolate store practically next door. The square itself also plays host to a charming Christmas market every year, bursting with wooden cabins selling traditional handicrafts and seasonal foods. Another feather in the hotel’s cap is its wellness facilities, with a swimming pool and fitness centre. Treat yourself in the spa, an ideal opportunity to spend the US$100 Credit on qualifying resort activities eligible Card Members receive when booking two nights or more from The Hotel Collection. Décor-wise, the look is classic-contemporary: rooms are done out in neutral shades and come with well-stocked minibars, smart, white-tiled bathrooms and work desks with ergonomic chairs. Book an Executive Room and you also get access to the snacks and drinks of the Executive Lounge. On the first floor, the Beletage restaurant lays on a generous breakfast spread with good views of the Deutsche Dom, while down in the lobby, Listo serves contemporary dishes, with a focus on fresh produce sourced within a 100km radius.
