Berlin Travel Guide

Known for its flourishing arts and cultures scene, Berlin boasts over 170 museums, more waterways than Venice, and the world's longest beer garden, making it a hotspot for historians and hipsters alike.

An edited choice of the best places in town to lay your head.

Start here: a local's pick of the city's must sees and dos.

When is the best time to visit Berlin?

Berlin is typical of a continental European climate with moderate temperatures and distinct seasons.  Summers (June to August) see temperatures averaging around 18 degrees, but the humidity can make it feel warmer. Make sure to bring layers that are easy to add or remove when needed as air conditioning is rare on public transport and in local exhibition spaces.  Don’t forget to pack an umbrella if visiting during winter (December to February) as you can expect higher-than-average rainfall during this period. Temperatures often fall below zero at this time, but you may also want to pack a pair of sunglasses for the crisp, bright December mornings.

The city’s events calendar ensures that there’s always something happening; in winter, the Christmas Markets are well worth a visit.

These tickets can be used for all public transport and can be purchased to last varying lengths of time, from single trips to four-days’ worth of travel.
