How Can I Earn Points?

Depending on the Card you hold you can earn up to 3 points for every $1 spent at major supermarkets and selected restaurants, 2 points per $1 spent on travel and at major petrol stations and 1 point per $1 spent almost everywhere else. You'll even earn points on utilities, insurance, telecommunications and government bodies.1 And, as long as your Account is in good standing, your points won’t expire.*

How to shop using points with Myer6
Choose from Myer’s huge selection including women’s, men's, electronics, homewares and so much more. Use your points to make purchases online at Myer or pay with a combination of points and Card payment.

2. Click the Amex Membership Rewards payment button and complete check out.
3. When the SafeKey screen appears, select the option to “View Points” and confirm the amount of points.
4. You will be charged the full dollar amount to your Card then receive a statement credit in exchange for your points within 2 to 4 business days.

- Membership Rewards. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards program available here. You will earn 1 point per dollar spent with Merchants classified as 'government', including the Australian Taxation Office, the Australian Postal Corporation (Australia Post), Federal/State and Local Government bodies, including where you use a payment account, payment aggregator, services of a third party or online retailers that sell goods for another merchant.
- Additional Cards. Additional Card Members must be 16 years of age or over. Additional Card Members were previously referred to as “Supplementary Card Members”. The basic Card Member will be liable to pay for all transactions made by Additional Card Members. Earning of points is subject to the terms and conditions of the Rewards Program the Basic Card Member is actively enrolled. Earning of Cashback is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the American Express Cashback Credit Card Rebate Program the Basic Card Member is actively enrolled. All points or Cashback earned on Additional Card Member spend will go to the Primary Card Members Account.
- Member Get Member. American Express credit approval criteria apply. Participation in the "Refer A Friend" program is subject to eligibility deemed by American Express. American Express discourages spamming. You should only send referral messages to friends and family who genuinely want to receive them. By participating in 'Refer a Friend', you agree to these 'Refer a Friend' terms and conditions:
Only Friends & Family: You must only send referral messages to close friends and family.Ask Their Permission First: You must ask the person for their permission to send them an email about your Card product. Sending emails to people without permission is considered spam.
Cap Referrals: You may only send referral messages to a maximum of 20 friends and the amount of Membership Rewards points you may receive under the ‘Refer a Friend’ program is capped at 200,000 points per year.
Your friend must apply from the referral link we have given you. If your friend applies from a separate link or applies independently (i.e. if they visit www.americanexpress.com.au directly) you will not receive your points.You must not market or promote this offer through paid advertising channels or to the public at large (i.e. on public blog sites, search engines or in sponsored ads).You will only receive points if your friend's Card application is approved (in accordance with our usual Card application processes and assessments).
Note: We will not tell you if your friend's Card application is approved or declined for privacy and confidentiality reasons.You cannot refer a friend who already has one of our Cards or has held one in the last 18 months.You must be enrolled in a Membership Rewards program to receive bonus points.It may take 8 to 10 weeks to be credited bonus points if you are successful.
Why should I comply?
If you fail to comply with these 'Refer a Friend' Terms and Conditions, your participation in the program may be cancelled and you will no longer be eligible for any Membership Rewards points from the 'Refer a Friend' program. - Gift Cards. Redemption options are subject to the Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions and the partners’ terms and conditions. Minim transfer amounts may apply. For full details please click here.
- Pay with Points. For each successful transaction with Select + Pay with points, points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account and a credit placed on your Card in line with the points chosen to be used for the Eligible Charge. A minimum of 1,000 Membership Rewards points is required for any Select + Pay with points transaction. Any credit to your Card account cannot exceed the amount of the relevant Eligible Charges. A credit will appear on your statement identified as “Rewards Credit”. Points will be debited immediately and the credit will take up to 3 business days to appear online. Credits processed after the Card account’s statement closing date will appear in the following statement. You are still responsible for payment of the amount due on your Card account by the due date. Select + Pay with points is not available for redemption by Corporate Card accounts and is not redeemable for cash via Credit balance refund.
2. American Express will select and display each eligible charge for Select + Pay with points (“Eligible Charge”) and the points rate required to pay for the Eligible Charge. Each Eligible Charge must: (a) appear within the Online Statement of the Summary of Accounts page; (b) be redeemed within 2 months of the charge appearing on your Card account; (c) not currently or have previously been disputed; and (d) not be a fee.
3. Eligible Charges, including the points rate required to pay for the Eligible Charge, may be changed at any time without notice. Select + Pay with points transactions can only be completed online. Select + Pay with points is available only to Basic Cardmembers enrolled in the Australian Membership Rewards program and is subject to the full Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions. Authorised agents, authorised account managers, additional Cardmembers and Authorised Additional Cardmembers are not eligible. All Linked Card accounts must be in good standing. - Pay With Points at Myer: You can Pay with points at Myer online if you are the Primary Card Member of an eligible American Express Card issued by American Express Australia Limited; your Card is enrolled in an eligible Membership Rewards program; and your Card Account is in good standing (i.e., not overdue or in collections). Additional or Employee Card Members, Card Members enrolled in Qantas or Velocity Direct program, Business Ascent program or Business Card Members with spend locked to one supplier or Card Members who hold a David Jones Storecard are not eligible to use Pay with points at Myer online. The minimum redemption value is 1,000 Membership Rewards points. The full transaction amount will be charged and appear on your account and the credit will appear within 72 hours of the charge (this may not be the full transaction amount). The credit may not appear on the same statement as the full charge. In this case, you must still pay the amount due on your statement, and the credit will apply to charges on your next statement. - American Express Travel Online. You can redeem points for prepaid travel of a nominated value through American Express Travel Online with the point-of-purchase redemption capability. Travel bookings using points may be made for any person, provided all your Accounts are kept in good standing and are not overdue. All travel bookings are subject to availability. Subject to the American Express Travel Online standard booking Terms and Conditions.
- Transferring Points. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards program available at https://www.americanexpress.com/en-au/rewards/membership-rewards/terms. You must be a member of the airline partner program, joining fees may apply and points transferred will be subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable airline partner program.
