Frequently asked questions
Cash flow refers to the cash flowing into and out of your business over a specific time period; the money you’re making in sales or commissions versus the money you’re spending on expenses. Consistently having more money coming in than going out means you have a strong cash flow position, which can result in more spending flexibility for your Business.
A strong operating cash flow position means you can pay down your startup or expansion costs and pay your bills—even unexpected ones—without taking out loans or impacting other parts of your business. This type of business finance management can support a positive working capital model, allowing for better preparation for changes that impact your business.
Operating cash flow is the amount of cash on hand your Business has at any given time: the balance in your Business bank account. It may be earmarked toward a specific cost, such as salaries, production, or facility rental, or it could be available to save or invest.
Free cash flow is your operating cash flow minus anything you might need to spend it on to keep your Business running. Essentially, it is pure profit.
