Q. Where do I purchase Travelers Cheques? A. You can buy Travelers Cheques at participating banks nationwide.
Q. Is there a fee to purchase Travelers Cheques? A. Usually banks charge an handling fee of 0.5% ~1%. For further details, please call the bank where you purchase American Express Travelers Cheques. Besides, It's better to purchase the American Express Travelers Cheques by using foreign savings in bank account, or using RMB following the foreign exchange regulations that have been formed by the Foreign Exchange Bureau. Q. What happens if I sign the Cheque in the wrong place, or my signatures don't match? A. Acceptance of Travelers Cheques is based on the acceptor watching the customer sign the Cheque in the lower left corner, and then comparing that signature with the original signature in the upper left corner. The acceptor must observe the customer signing the Cheque. If the signatures are a reasonable match, the Cheque should be accepted. As always, if the acceptor is unsure, they should call an American Express Travelers Cheque Customer Service Center. If you sign in the wrong place, the acceptor will ask you to sign again in the right place.
Q. Do I need to fill out the date on my Travelers Cheque? A. The date, in the upper right-hand corner, should be filled out upon use, just like a personal cheque. It is also acceptable without filling out the date.
Q. Is there a fee to cash Travelers Cheques? A. Normally there is no fee when you use Travelers Cheques to pay for goods and services at shops, restaurants, and hotels. Some establishments, primarily outside of the U.S., as well as some banks, may charge a fee.
