To qualify for 80,000 bonus Membership Rewards points, you must have at least $6,000 in net purchases posted to your account in your first 3 months of Platinum Card membership. Please allow up to eight weeks for the bonus to be awarded. Membership Rewards points will be earned by the Basic Cardmember on the amount of purchases, less credits and adjustments. Interest charges, annual fees, other fees and cash equivalent transactions are not purchases and do not qualify for Membership Rewards points.
- You can redeem Membership Rewards points for a statement credit towards an Eligible Purchase charged to an Eligible Card. All Eligible Purchases: 1,000 points = $10 statement credit. You must redeem a minimum of 1,000 points per redemption. Eligible Purchases include purchases made at American Express merchants and charged to an Eligible Card. Funds advances, fees, balance transfers, Amex cheques and charges for travelers cheques are not Eligible Purchases. American Express may make changes to the types of purchases that are eligible for redemption with Use Points for Purchases at any time without notice. Eligible Cards are Consumer and Small Business Cards enrolled in the Membership Rewards program. Statement credits on your Card Account should not exceed the aggregate amount of the Eligible Purchase(s) on your Eligible Card. You can register for Online Services to view your Eligible Purchases and to redeem online. Only Eligible Purchases posted to your Card Account during the last 3 months, up to 150 most recent Eligible Purchases, will be displayed for redemption. Please allow up to 8 weeks after earning your Membership Rewards points for your Membership Rewards account to be updated. Your new earn rate will apply to purchases and returns upon conversion of your account to this American Express Platinum Card. All deductions for returns, credits and adjustments will be calculated at the earn rate in effect at the time of the return, credit or adjustment. This means that the amount of membership points deducted from your balance may be different from the amount originally earned.
- Basic Cardmembers can earn one additional bonus Membership Rewards point for every dollar charged to your Platinum Card for eligible hotel and car rental bookings (less credits and adjustments) made through the American Express Travel website where American Express Travel (not the hotel or car rental company) is the merchant. Hotel bookings under The Hotel Collection program and Fine Hotels + Resorts are not eligible for this bonus Membership Rewards points offer. Travel booking must be charged to your Platinum Card. Account must be in good standing. If you choose to use the Travel Credit, it will be credited to your Card account within 2 business days. Basic Cardmember is entitled to one (1) Annual Travel Credit each year based on Cardmembership anniversary date, towards a single travel booking of $200 or more, and will appear on your billing statement as “Platinum Annual Travel Credit”. If you cancel your travel booking after redeeming the Annual Travel Credit, you will not be able to use it again in the same year. You can only use one Travel Credit per booking.
- Global Lounge Collection - Holders of the Platinum Card may access participating Canadian and International airport lounges (“Participating Lounges”) on a complimentary basis, upon presentation of the required entry documentation. American Express will not provide additional statement credits once the maximum of $100 CAD in cumulative statement credits have been issued for subsequent NEXUS application or renewal American Express® Platinum Cardmembers are eligible to receive up to $100 CAD in statement credits every four (4) years for application or renewal fees for the NEXUS program when charged to an eligible Card. Cardmembers are responsible for payment of all application charges until the statement credit posts to the Card account. To be eligible for this benefit, Card account(s) must be active and not in default at the time of statement credit fulfillment. - Valid only for new Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR) bookings made through Platinum Card Travel Service, americanexpress.ca/travel or americanexpress.ca/fhr. Corporate Platinum Cardmembers must book their travel through Corporate Platinum Travel Service. Corporate Platinum Cardmembers are not eligible to book on americanexpress.ca/fhr. Payment must be made with an American Express Card in the Canadian Platinum, Business Platinum, or Corporate Platinum Cardmember's name. Platinum, Business Platinum, or Corporate Platinum Cardmember must travel on the itinerary booked under FHR reservations to be eligible for benefits described. Limit of one (1) benefit package per room per stay. Benefit package can include Noon check-in, Room upgrade, Daily breakfast for two people, guaranteed 4:00 pm late check-out, plus a unique property benefit. Noon check-in and room upgrade based on availability and provided at check-in. Certain room categories are not eligible for room upgrades. Call Platinum Card Travel Service for details. The type and value of the daily breakfast (for two) varies by property. The actual value of the daily breakfast will be communicated at the time of check-in. Daily breakfast will be valued at a minimum of US$60 per room per day. Any charges that exceed the value of the daily breakfast will be the responsibility of the Cardmember and will be charged separately. To receive the breakfast credit, the breakfast bill must be charged to your hotel room. The breakfast credit will be applied at check-out. Unique property benefit varies by property, is subject to change, and cannot be redeemed for cash. To receive the unique property benefit, the eligible spend must be charged to your hotel room and the credit will be applied at check-out. FHR cannot be combined with other offers unless indicated. Benefit package expires at check-out. Platinum, Business Platinum, or Corporate Platinum Cardmembers may book up to a maximum of three (3) rooms under the FHR Program per stay. Back-to-back stays booked by a single Cardmember, Cardmembers travelling in the same party and staying in the same room, within a 24-hour period at the same property are considered one stay and are ineligible for additional FHR benefits (“Prohibited Action”). American Express and the Property reserve the right to modify or revoke FHR benefits at any time without notice if we or they determine, in our or their sole discretion, that you may have engaged in a Prohibited Action, or have engaged in abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with your FHR benefits. In the event the Platinum, Business Platinum, or Corporate Platinum cancels the reservation(s), FHR rates and benefit package will no longer apply to any remaining reservation(s). Participating Fine Hotels + Resorts properties and benefits are subject to change. Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided in room, with the exception of select properties where In-Room Wi-Fi is included as part of a mandatory daily resort fee or is not available. Gold status benefits are subject to availability at participating hotels and resorts within the Hilton Portfolio. Once you request enrolment in Hilton Honors Gold status, American Express will share your enrolment information with Hilton. If you already have Hilton Honors Gold Status, you can maintain the benefit in the future because you don’t need to meet any stay requirements. - American Express Basic and Supplementary Cardmembers with an eligible Card are entitled to access the Pearson Priority Lanes (“Priority Lanes”). The Priority Lanes are serviced by the Greater Toronto Airport Authority. Priority Lanes are located at select departure areas at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport in Terminals 1 & 3. Access to a Pearson Priority Lane is available to eligible Canadian Cardmembers and companions travelling on the same itinerary. The eligible Cardmember can request single-use QR Codes online by visiting go.amex/yyz. For assistance, please call the phone number on the back of your card. Access to the Priority Lanes is intended for the Basic and Supplementary Cardmember and a reasonable number of persons travelling with them on the same itinerary. If we determine, in our sole discretion, that a Cardmember (or Supplementary Cardmember, as applicable) is not using this benefit as intended, we reserve the right to revoke your access to the benefit or to cancel your Card account. All passengers departing from Pearson International Airport, including those accessing the Priority Lane, are required to comply with airport security and customs screening requirements. - Enrolled Cardmembers will be eligible to receive a statement credit of $200 CAD following a single transaction of $200 CAD or more (including taxes and gratuity) at one of the eligible restaurants listed on our website at go.amex/diningcreditrestaurants at the time of the transaction. Credit is available only once per redemption period. Participating restaurants are subject to change. Spend must be in one transaction. A one-time enrolment is required for the $200 Annual Dining Credit through Amex Offers and Cardmembers will automatically be enrolled for future redemption periods and do not need to re-enroll. Each calendar year is a separate redemption period. In 2023, however, the redemption period will be from September 26, 2023 until December 31, 2023.
Benefit resets automatically each year on January 1 for each year this benefit is available. American Express reserves the right to modify, replace or terminate this benefit at its discretion.
Any credit not redeemed during the applicable redemption period will not roll over to the following redemption period and will expire. Your Card must be charged prior to the end of each redemption period (December 31) to be eligible for the credit within that redemption period.
This benefit is available to Basic Platinum Cardmembers only. If you switch to a new Card product that is not eligible for this benefit, enrolment will be removed from your Card account. If you are no longer eligible for this benefit due to a change in account status, including but not limited to fraudulent flags, suspension, or cancellation, it will be removed from your account.
Benefit only available for dine-in services. Benefit excludes purchases of gift cards and vouchers, transactions made towards deposits charged upfront by the venue, cancellation and no-show charges, take away or dine-at-home services.
Benefit limited to the Card to which the offer is saved and only spend on this Card counts towards the benefit. Transactions made with a Supplementary Card are not eligible for the credit.
Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 150 days from the offer end date.
