  • Applicants must be over 18 years old and approval is subject to status.
  • By proceeding with this Upgrade you are requesting to end your existing agreement, and apply for a new American Express Platinum Card agreement. 
  • Your agreement will only end if we accept your application to Upgrade, which is subject to approval, and Card eligibility. Your Account number will stay the same. By applying for this Upgrade, you request that any existing balance agreement is transferred to your new American Express Platinum Card agreement. Any balance will be subject to exactly the same terms (such as interest rate) after transfer, as it is before transfer.

1. Subject to eligibility and approval. The 80,000 Membership Rewards® points will be awarded onto your Account once you have been approved and you have spent £10,000 within the first six months of new Cardmembership. It is only available if you have upgraded from an eligible American Express® Preferred Rewards Gold Credit Card Consumer or the The American Express® Rewards Credit Card product. This introductory offer is subject to change and can be withdrawn at any time. Offer starts on 12th November 2024 and ends on 14th January 2025. Note that it can take up to 60 days for bonus points to be awarded to your Account. You will not receive this bonus if you have ever received an Upgrade bonus before. 

 

2. Valid only for new Fine Hotels & Resorts bookings made through the Platinum Travel service. Payment must be made in full with an American Express Card in the Platinum Cardmember’s name. Cardmember must travel on itinerary booked to be eligible for benefits described. Noon check-in and room upgrade are based on availability and are provided at check-in. 3. Platinum Cardmembers have unlimited complimentary access to American Express Lounge locations. Guest access policies vary by location and are subject to change. Access is subject to lounge availability and is non-transferable. Benefit available to Primary and Supplementary Platinum Cardmembers only. Guests are not permitted access. 4. The Platinum insurance excludes cover for pre-existing medical conditions other than those on the accepted conditions list which can be viewed here. Cover for medical assistance and expenses is only available until you (or your family or Supplementary Cardmembers) turn 70 years of age. In order to receive certain insurance benefits, you need to purchase the trip on your American Express Platinum Card in full. Terms and Conditions apply. 5. Enrolment required. Platinum Cardmembers can receive statement credits up to the total value of £150 at UK restaurants and £150 at restaurants internationally, each calendar year. To enrol, Cardmembers simply need to save both newly-launched offers to their Card and choose from the globally curated selection of over 1,400 top restaurants in the UK and internationally. Full benefit Terms and Conditions can be found here. From January, The Global Dining Credit will be refreshed from the stated £300 annual value to £400. Your new Local Global Dining Credit will give you £200 per year with £100 to spend from January to June, and a further £100 to spend from July to December for UK participating restaurants. Your new Abroad Dining Credit will give you £200 per year with £100 to spend from January to June, and a further £100 to spend from July to December for participating non-UK restaurants. Re-enrolment is required.

 

6. Enrolment required. Platinum Cardmembers can enjoy up to £100 in statement credits per year with Harvey Nichols, when you spend online and in-store with your Card. Get maximum £50 back every six months. Benefit eligible for Primary Cardmember only, and cannot be redeemed by Supplementary Cardmembers. Statement credit not redeemed during the applicable spend period will not roll over to the following spend period and will expire. Available only in participating UK store(s) and online at www.harveynichols.com, and only valid for orders delivered to the UK. Exclusions apply. 7. You will be liable for all charges made by the Additional Cardmember. The term ‘Additional Card’ refers to the American Express® Supplementary Card programme. The first Platinum Supplementary Card is provided at no extra charge. If you already have an a Supplementary Card, you will be given the option to upgrade your Supplementary Card at no extra charge. An annual fee of £285 applies to each Platinum Supplementary Card beyond the one offered at no extra charge. Supplementary Cards can be requested for anyone aged 18 or over with a permanent UK address. If approved, you will be responsible for any spending on your Account made by the Supplementary Cardmember. Approval subject to status and Terms and Conditions apply.
